MON STATE – A prisoner of conscience, a 31-year-old fireman who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement, unjustly detained in Kyaikmaraw Prison, Mon State, after being prosecuted with section 52 (A) by the junta council, has reportedly passed away on the morning of January 16, as announced by the Political Prisoners Network Myanmar (PPNM) on January 16.
He went to the prison hospital to get treatment for gastric problems. As the medical superintendent of the prison hospital was taking a rest, an in-charge dentist checked on him and gave an injection when the situation didn’t improve. Around an hour after getting the injection, he fell unconscious, foaming from his mouth.
Due to the accident, the medical superintendent of the prison hospital immediately arrived and injected him with two doses of dexamethasone. He was then sent to general hospital, while being given emergency oxygen at 1 a.m. on January 16. However, when he arrived at the hospital, Mr. Pyae Phyo Aung has reportedly passed.
Mr. Pyae Phyo Aung, born in Innsein Township, was a fireman who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement and he was caught by the junta council at the edge of Thanlwin Bridge in Hpa-An Township, Karen State on January 3, 2022.
He was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the atrocious junta council on February 14, 2022 and sent to Taungkalay Prison in Hpa-An then transferred to Kyaikmaraw Prison on May 22, 2022 and passed away on the morning of January 16.
