MON STATE – The junta forces fired heavy artillery into Yaypukawsat Village in Kyaikmayaw Township unprovoked on October 12 and the civilians had to hide in the trenches the entire night, reported the residents.
The terrorist junta column has been stationed at Chaungnhakwa Village and a battle broke out against revolutionary forces in the area of Thanpaya Village on October 12 afternoon. Then on that evening, junta terrorists are said to have fired heavy artillery towards Yaypukawsat Village which is in the opposite direction from the site of the battle.
“The area of battle and the target of heavy artillery are in opposite directions. They shelled (Yaypukawsat) Village for no reason. Because it was in the evening after the villagers had finished working in the fields, there were no casualties but a tractor was damaged,” said a local resident.
People of Yaypukawsat Village had to spend the night hiding in the trenches due to heavy artillery by junta terrorists. The junta troops at Chaungnhakwa Village often shell the villages unprovoked and this is the first time Yaypukawsat Village was target of said shelling.
“They (junta forces) always carry out shellings at night in Chaungnhakwa so the villagers are used to the sound of shelling. But they were scared because it was the first time the shells landed in the village,” added the resident.
