SHAN STATE (EAST) – A head of ten households in Panyong village was assassinated on the morning of February 17th in Kengtung Township.
The head of ten households, 35 years old Kyamu, who came back from the Lahu New Year celebration with his wife in Namsi (1) village where his father lived, was shot on spot on the road on February 17th, at around 10:00 a.m.
Kyamu and his wife were returning from the jungle road to Panyong village from Namsi (1) village. When they got off their motorcycle to remove the logs blocking the road near the scene of the incident, they heard a gunshot and Kyamu fell on the spot.
Kyamu’s wife ran back the way she came and reported the incident to the Pankyu village administrator, who went to check on Kyamu. He was found dead with gunshot wounds and knife wounds.
At the scene of the incident, the perpetrator of the murder found a medicine pot made of traditional bamboo (Moyanam) and waited for him to kill him.
It is learnt that a murder case has been reported at Kengtung police station.
