KAREN STATE – KNU reported that two civilians were killed and six others, including children under the age of ten, were wounded due to junta artillery shelling in Kyauk Gyi Township.
On the night of February 14, the junta council from Pain Zalote fired heavy artillery shells at Kyauk Gyi Township. The shells landed and exploded in Kanyin Kyoe Village, killing one woman and wounding five others, including three children.
On that same night, the junta infantry battalion (264) fired heavy artillery shells at Nat Than Kwin Town and Khin Kant Lant Village, killing one elderly person and wounding a 44-year-old woman.
Some pets and cattle were killed because the junta council recklessly fired heavy artillery shells. The junta council soldiers have been targeting villages in KNU-controlled areas and have killed around 200 civilians and wounded many others in 2023.
