RAKHINE STATE – It was reported that the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in 11 IDP camps in Kyauktaw Town has been facing food shortage problem, before the resurgence of the fights in Kyauktaw.
Those IDP camps were identified as Myo Ma Shwe Kyaung, Nay Pu Khan, Mahar Kan Gyi Shin, City Hall, Myo Thit Hman Kyaung, Thein Pyin monastery, COC, Kawi Yadanar, Train Station (1), Train Station (2) and Thayet Oak.There are more than 1,500 households and over 5,000 IDPs in those 11 camps.“
We have been looking for odd jobs to overcome the difficulties in our own way, but it does not cover for the food,” said the in charge of IDP.Moreover, the terrorist junta army had blocked and strictly inspected the locals, causing the IDPs to work in the town and nearby places to solve their hardship, he said.
Because there were less humanitarian assistance in IDP camps, as well as the skyrocketing price of commodities, many IDPs are facing shortages of food.It was reported that there are not only IDPs, who already sheltered during 2028-2019 armed conflicts, in the camps of Kyauktaw Town, but also the new comers due to the resurgence of the fights in Kyauktaw.
