BAGO DIVISION – Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and military junta forces clashed around 10 p.m. on Tuesday (September 20) in Kyauktaga, Kyaukkyi and Shwegyin Townships of Eastern Bago Division. Locals reported that there were exchange of artillery fire and explosions of landmines.
Regime forces were blasted with a mine attack when they were on their way to investigate an explosion of the electrical transformer at Bawdikwin Village. The attack killed two Pyu members (junt-backed militia) and one soldier while one militia member was injured, according to a Kyauktaga local.
The coup council forces also fired 20 rounds of artillery from Nattankwin Bridge at the eastern side of the Sittaung river. One landed in Thangwin Ward (7) and injured a Karen woman who is in her forties, according to locals.
The junta forces from Padekaw Bawkahtar in Shwegyin Township also fired heavy weapons the whole night towards the Battalion-9 area on September 20.
The military council forces are reinforcing their forces inside Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade-3 area and conducting military offensives. Locals said helicopters have been seen flying almost everyday near Brigade-3 area.
