MAGWAY DIVISION – The junta council’s Kyaukhtu artillery battalion from Saw Township reportedly fired heavy artillery at over 5:00 p.m. on June 21 and the artillery shell exploded in Ywar Thar Village monastery, injuring seven people, including a monk and a novice.
The victims were four refugees from Anyar Village, one from Akyi Village and a monk and a novice from Ywar Thar Village monastery, with one of them in a critical condition.
“We really don’t want the junta soldiers to fire artillery wildly at the village without the presence of resistance forces,” said a local source.
In addition, he said that the junta convoy from Pontaung has reached near Akyi Village and the frontline troops of the junta council are also somewhere not far from the convoy.
Also, local People’s Defence Force of Mindat reportedly closed the Mindat-Kyaukhtu Road temporarily as the junta convoy and column might come.
