RAKHINE STATE – Sources said that 4 innocent male civilians from Kulaba village, Kyauk Phyu township, Rakhine State were arrested by junta council forces on March 21st, and one of them was released with multiple injuries in the neck.
Those arrested are the residents of Kulaba Village including 45-year-old U Hsu Maung, 35-year-old U Soe Thein Naing, 33-year-old U Kyaw Kyaw and 27-year-old Ko Aung No Win.
They were arrested by about 100 soldiers of the Junta Council in Wa Taung near Kulaba Village at around 8:00 a.m. on March 21.
A source said, “U Hsu Maung has more than 10 wounds from being beaten on his neck. He was made to sit in the sun for 20 minutes. Then the junta council troops took away the eggplants and chillies he had. At around 12 noon, U Hsu Maung was released with his injuries and told not to look back until he reached the village. The rest of the people have not been released yet.”
The family members do not know how the soldiers of the military council arrested them and are worried that they will be forced into military service.
A family member of U Soe Thein Naing said, “I am very worried. The soldiers of the military council treat our local residents inhumanely. Some of them beat us to the point where their lives are in danger. Now they are recruiting military personnel, so I am very worried that they will be enlisted to the army. If they are innocent, I want them to be released. They have not done anything wrong.”
The soldiers of the military council in Kyauk Phyu unjustly arrested the residents, committed beatings and traffic are reportedly strictly restricted.
In addition to this, military council soldiers have been laying landmines around Kyauk Phyu since the last 3 weeks, and until now, at least 5 local residents have stepped on landmines and injured.
