SHAN STATE – The local people said that some mobile networks are unavailable as the communications towers in Kyaukme District, northern Shan state could not be refueled.
A local resident of Kyaukme explained that it is due to the contracted fuel provider failing to refuel the communications towers situated in the area of battle fields.”
“Before “Operation 1027”, the fuel could not be supplied among the battles so the connection was lost. After “Operation 1027″, they could not provide fuel to most places where the armed forces are stationed,” shared the resident.
The telecommunications companies reportedly had their own separate communications towers but after the frequent battles, all the companies are said to be sharing the same tower.
Formerly, it is easy to distinguish Ooredoo tower, Telenor tower and MPT tower but now all the companies share the same towers.
Currently, only around 10/18 towers near Kyaukme could be refueled and Mytel is the only network which is left in good condition as its towers are situated in the military bases.
Only Ooredoo could be accessed in Maingngau, seven miles away from Kyaukme while only Mytel could be accessed between Kyaukme and Hsipaw. Though all the telecommunications SIM cards are accessible in Kyaukme, Mytel internet wifi is the only wifi service available in Kyaukme. The revolutionary forces said that they have been taking out fuel from the Mytel towers, using the generators at Mytel towers and also destroyed some towers to be used in the manufacture of heavy artillery, the base of lathe and the shovels and other items as Mytel is a major economic pillar of the junta council.
