TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Kyaw Myint, village administrator of Maetaw Village Tract as well as a Pyu Saw Htee militia leader that was leading the forced recruitment of soldiers for the terrorist junta council in Maetaw Village Tract of Kyunsu Township was killed when revolutionary forces tried to arrest him, according to an official from Kyunsu Township People’s Defence Team.
On May 7 around 8:30 a.m., members of Kyunsu Township People’s Defence Team (PDT) went to arrest Kyaw Myint but he resisted arrest, causing the revolutionary forces to shoot at him and he was killed.
A 9mm pistol with 25 bullets, a handcuff, three lakhs Kyats in cash, a mobile phone, a junta-issued village administrator certificate and citizenship scrutiny card and several other documents and items were said to have been confiscated from the body of the killed militia leader.
Kyunsu Township PDT has warned the administration officers, Pyu Saw Htee militants and village in charge (hundred households chiefs) to cease cooperating with junta forces to collect the lists of people to be conscripted for the junta regime, extorting civilians for military service charges and any form of bullying against the civilians.
