SAGAING DIVISION – Two families from Satharkone Village of Kyunhla Township, who were once the members of junta-backed Pyu Saw Htee militia fled and took refuge under People’s Defence Force (PDF), said an official of Infinity Group and a local news source.
A family who were members of Pyu Saw Htee group and another family who were listed to attend training by Pyu Saw Htee, a total of 13 people fled and took shelter under PDF on July 29 amid various difficulties.
“The main reason was that they didn’t like the actions of the Pyu and the military dictatorship. There were a lot of people who were forced to take the training course by Pyu Saw Htee. The locals welcomed them with open arms,” an official from Infinity Group added.
The houses of those families at Satharkone Village have been sealed off, and the furniture was stolen by junta backed Pyu Saw Htee. There are also death threats from the Pyu, threatening to kill the run away families at any place they are found.
The escaped people did not have sufficient clothings, so the local people, some NUG officials and the People’s Defence Forces are providing the necessary help.
“Right now, it’s fine. As they didn’t have enough clothes, we also donated the clothes we had this morning,”said an official of Infinity Group.
