SAGAING DIVISION – In Khin U Township, a 66-year-old woman died on the spot from asphyxiation while fleeing the war, local residents said.
66-year-old Ms. Khin Mya Win, who was forced to flee from her home in Mayanin Village, reportedly died of suffocation while fleeing the war on Sunday (June 4) and was buried in the place of her temporary shelter.
“We have been running away from the war since June 2. The deceased is Ms. Khin Mya Win, 66-year-old from Mayanin Village. She died on June 4, it is known that she was buried in the place where she was taking refuge,” said a resident.
More than 10,000 local people from 12 villages in Khin U Township of Shwebo District have been displaced due to terrorist army raids. The affected villages are said to be part of prefecture 2, namely; Ywarthit Village, Innpat Village, Chanthagone Village, Nyaungpinchan Village, Segyi Village, Mayanin Village, Kontha Village, Thekonegyi Village, Kyiaing Village, Aungtha Village, Innpauk Village and Monetaw Village.
Khin U Township news team said that the junta column that arrived in Khin U consisted of soldiers from Ye U and Innpat Kway, and a group of Pyu Saw Htee (jubta-raiaed militia) from Ywarthitgone Village. The column, numbering more than 100, has been conducting raids and arson, destroying the villages. As a result, civilians are forced to run for safety and are said to be in need of emergency relief aids.
