SAGAING DIVISION – According to local residents, 2 people, including a 3-year-old child, were killed when junta council troops raided Mya Kantha Ward in Khin-U.
At around 11:00 p.m. on August 17, 50-year-old U Pho Pein and 3-year-old Maung Ko Ko Htet were killed when the terrorist army raided the ward and opened fire with weapons. Maung Ko Ko Htet’s mother and younger brother were also arrested.
“The junta forces fired weapons as if there was a battle going on in the town. The dead child is the elder boy of the twins. The younger boy and the mother, Ma Thida Oo, were captured by the junta army. They also took the body of the elder boy,” said Captain Lin Yaung, who is in charge of the Khin-U Support Organization.
According to the junta council’s propaganda news sources, Khin-U township public security forces leader Ko Myo Kyaw’s house was raided and arrested Ma Thida Oo along with weapons. One of the eyewitnesses said that he saw the junta soldiers carrying Maung Ko Ko Htet’s body, carrying his brother Nyi Nyi Htet in their arms, and dragging Ma Thida Oo away with bleeding from her head.
The house that the junta council raided and arrested was not Ko Myo Kyaw’s house, but the house of Ko Wai Htet and Ma Thida Oo, and when Ma Thida Oo was arrested, only the body of a child and another child were taken without any weapons, Captain Lin Yaung continued.
“It can be said that they stormed the house only because the people died after they shot. They did not shoot at a single house, but since they started entering the neighborhood, they began to shoot wildly whatever they saw along the road,” Captain Lin Yaung continued.
In addition, 32-year-old Ko Chan, 20-year-old Maung Do Do, 14-year-old Maung Po Wine was shot and injured, and 20-year-old Ko Kala was arrested. It is only known that those arrested were taken to the Khin-U police station within the night, and it is not yet known where they are being held.
