SAGAING DIVISION – The heavy weapons shelled by junta army fell into Muthar Village, resulted killing two people including a woman and injuring five others, said People Defense Comrade spokesperson Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Amay’s Thar).
“Junta army fired four heavy weapons on the morning of July 20. It fell into Muthar Village at western part of Khin-U. Ms. Thae Mar (27) and Mr. Myo (30) were killed by it and five others locals were wounded again,” Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw added.
Heavy arteries shelled by the military council stationing at the traditional hospital in Ye-U Township exploded in Muthar Village located in the western part of Khin-U Township and across Mu River from southern part of Ye-U Township. More than 5000 local residents from six villages have been fleeing due to junta army shelling of heavy weapons.
On July 19 afternoon, two people, including a six-years-old child, were killed and four others were injured as a result of junta council’s heavy weapons fired into Thetpay Village at western Khin-U. Ten of thousands of local people from more than twenty villages had to flee for safety.
Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw said that the junta’s column rampaging in Pitakatkya and Zeezun Villages of southern Ye-U Township had moved to Ye-U Town at about 3 p.m. on July 20 through Muthar Kone and Kutkosu Villages. Some local residents from southern Ye-U Township went back to their place but a lot others have been still fleeing for safety due to junta’s heavy weapons shelling.
He also said that the number of war displaced people is increasing as the military council troops continue to launch attacks, the IDP camps requiring more supports and help since they are facing difficulties on food and accommodation.
“Thousands of people from six villages are fleeing this morning due to falling heavy artilleries in the western part of Khin-U Township. Only some have returned,” he said.
