SAGAING DIVISION – Eleven civilians including two children were killed when the junta air force bombed the church in Ward No. 5 of Kanan Model Village in Khampat Town, Tamu Township, reported the locals.
At around 10:30 a.m. last Sunday (January 7), the junta council dropped four 250 lb bombs onto the church in Kanan Model Village using an A5 plane. The church was damaged and eleven civilians, two children and nine adults, were killed.
“Four 250 lb bombs were dropped on the church in Kanan Model Village from an A5 plane, killing nine adults and two children. The body parts of three victims were recovered. There were also many injured. A lot of people attending church service were killed or injured. The details of the injured people is not known yet. We are rushing the rescue of the injured people as we are afraid that there could be more airstrikes,” said a local resident.
Khampat Town was captured by the People’s Defence Forces back in early November.
