YANGON DIVISION – The locals reported that when asked if they can now ride the sidecar attached motorcycles in Khayan, Yangon, which were previously banned, the junta council threateningly replied, “You can ride if you have extra lives”.
Junta banned the sidecar attached motorcycles in Khayan Township starting April 15 this year and because of that, the civilians and motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers who have to rely on motorcycles (for transportation and livelihoods) have been facing difficulties.
A resident said that the junta council has been mean spirited since two junta policemen were killed and their guns were seized in a shooting incident in April.
“There are some kids who were abducted and killed by junta troops during interrogation as well as some were shot dead then falsely declared as PDF,” said the resident.
Junta abducted Ya Naung, Hmay Gyi, Bite Ka Lay, Thar Li Kar, Sar Ka Lay, DK, and other five PDF members of Khayan People’s Defence Force last April 22.
The junta council banned motorbike riding in several townships of Yangon after urban guerrilla forces carried out attacks on junta forces using motorbikes.
