SAGAING DIVISION – The junta troops moving along Chaung U-A Myint Road were attacked by Chaung U People Defense’s Force (CHUPDF) near Kinmontaw Pyusawhtee Village.
The attacks were three land mine attacks, two bounding mine attacks and one hand-to-hand combat by CHUPDF Battalion 4, Battalion 2 and Mobile Battalion, receptively. These attacks in Chaung U resulted in 12 junta forces killed and 33 injured, as the announcement by CHUPDF on Tuesday (August 9)
The junta forces were about 120 strong spreading from Chaung U-A Myint Road to Wet Toe and Nga Oo Gyi in Pauk Village.
The military soldiers had destroyed a farm hut and a residential home before arriving Kinmontaw Pyusawhtee Village.
After the attacks, the comrades from CHUPDF safely returned although sixteen landmines were disarmed by the junta.
Similarly in Mandalay Division, three junta vehicles coming to guard the support ships in the Irrawaddy River were exploded by seven cluster mines in three places in Tha Pate Kyin and at least five soldiers were dead.
“After the first explosion, a vehicle stopped. Then another mine was triggered when the second one arrived. The junta troops got off from vehicles and shot aimlessly. There would be at least five dead,” said Lieutenant Soe Gyi from Kyar Nyat PDF.
