MAGWAY DIVISION – According to the local residents, the military council soldiers who were patrolling towards Gangaw Township took a male Chin national from Shuanshi village as a hostage at around 6:00 a.m. on August 16.
Three men in their 20s who had fled from a convoy of the terrorist army were arrested and interrogated near the Swetawshin Pagoda, West Gangaw and Shaunshi Villages by a junta column with a force of more than 80 that came out of the junta Infantry Battalion 50 based in Gangaw, and the Chin national was taken as a hostage.
“In the morning, the junta column moved towards West Gangaw. Those three boys were arrested on their usual route to Swetaw Pagoda. Two of them were released because they found no evidence on them. The other one was reportedly arrested with evidence. I can’t say his name,” said a villager in West Gangaw.
After that, the terrorist army left with the arrested young man to the village of Shaukpin (Aungmyin), which is about one mile away from the village of Shaunshi. They have stationed there, cooking and eating in the monastery.
He also said that the residents of West Gangaw Village and Shaunshi Village who fled during the military operation have currently re-entered and are living in the village again.
On August 9, the same terrorist military council forces killed one West Gangaw villager and three Shaunshi villagers who they had taken as hostages on the same day, and also burned down one home in Shaunshi Village.
