MAGWAY DIVISION- According to the People’s Defense Forces, they have been clearing the landmines at Sanmyo Village, Gantgaw Township, which had been raided by the military junta troops.
On February 16, the military council army and the Pyu Saw Htee column entered the Sanmyo village, burned down the houses, and left on February 17.
“It can be said that land mines have been placed in the entire village. Mines that they will not remove. Currently, the residents are restricted from re-entering the village,” said the information officer of the Gantgaw Public Administration Force.
The Sanmyo village, with about 200 households, was repeatedly raided and torched by the military council. Now, the entire village has been destroyed by fire and the residents are reportedly fleeing the war in temporary tents in the fields.
There are four wards in Gantgaw township and a total of over one hundred villages. Only about seven villages, including Myauk Khinyan village, are under the control of the military council, and in more than 90 villages, the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Defense has established public administration bodies.
