AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – Ngaputaw Township administrators are reclaiming the COVID loans and agriculture Bank loans lent by the previous NLD government from the farmers.
On July 19th, Koe Taung Village Tract Administrator Khin Maung Win asked the villagers who had taken loans in the village to pay them back quickly, and told them that action will be taken if they didn’t pay, the residents said.
A local farmer said, “They will seize my farm. They will take action. So we will have to find ways to settle the loans. There is nothing we can do. The prices of commodities have gone up, the oil prices are high, the farm production has fallen, and there is nothing left. If we can’t pay, we will only to be arrested,”
In Pyin District, Ngaputaw Township, the administrators in the villages of Thinkankone village tract threatened villagers to pay back the loan as soon as possible.
After the military coup, the junta has been forcing to take back the loans given to farmers during the outbreak of the Covid-19 under the civilian government.
