SAGAING DIVISION – Since May 19, the raiding junta forces of Sagaing based 33rd Light Infantry Division (LID – 33) reportedly terrorized and pillaged the villages in Pa Du area in the western part of Sagaing Town, forcing tens of thousands of residents to run away from their homes.
On May 19, around 30 brutal junta soldiers raided and ransacked the villages in Pa Du area in Sagaing Township, and continued to storm and plunder the villages with around 60 forces on May 20 and over 100 forces on May 21. The local news sources said that the junta council had reinforced their raiding soldiers day by day and terrorized and looted the villages.
More than 10,000 of local peoples of Pa Du Village with over 1500 houses, Kyauk Pa Nan, Kyauk Pa Nan Ywar Thit, Kan Gyi Kone villages had been forced to flee for the past three days due to the terrorizing of the vicious junta soldiers. It was said that those junta forces continued to rampage in the villages and the residents of Sar Yay and Se Lay Taw villages had been forced leave from their homes.
“I’ve been running for three days. Today (May 21) there are more than 100 junta dogs (military soldiers). People are running under the sun in mercilessly hot,” said a resident.
The raiding junta soldiers of Sagaing based LID – 33 had departed their base with military trucks on the morning and returned at night, after they had reportedly butchered the people, devastated, ransacked and terrorized in the villages. It was said that they were dropped off by military trucks in the village that they were going to raid on the morning, and were picked up on the evening with the looted goods, belongings of civilians.
Around 3,000 of civilians’ houses have been reportedly burnt to ashes by junta’s arson raids in Sagaing Township, after the coup d’état.
