SAGAING DIVISION – According to the residents, two people from Ngathtetgyi Pagoda Road, Chin Su Ward were arrested by the junta council for staging a flower strike.
On the evening of June 19, the junta troops entered a second-hand phone shop near Borga Kyaukwine (gemstone market) on Ngathtetgyi Pagoda Road and arrested two people.
“The police and soldiers entered the shop and arrested them. We found out that they were detained as their identities were leaked out in the junta’s affiliates telegram channel,” said a local.
The detainee Mr. Swan Htet Naing (20) is residing at Chin Su Ward and Ms. Shwe Cin Win (20) is from New Zaya Ward.
It is reported that the military council arrested and took the youths to Sagaing (Myoma) Police Station where they are being interrogated.
This June 19th was State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi’s 78th birthday and thus people held a flower strike to honor her. But the junta regime forces have been detaining the flower sellers and those who wear flowers for allegedly participating in the flower strike.
Similarly, a politician and two women from Nattalin Township, Bago Division were detained by junta forces for allegedly organizing a flower strike and posting about it online.
