UNITED STATES – The US Secretary of State said during a meeting with Singapore’s Foreign Minister that ASEAN should continue to put pressure on the Myanmar junta council and interact with the opposition forces.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly passed this message to Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan after their meeting in Washington on June 16.
Mr. Antony Blinken said, “It is important that we all put pressure on the junta founcil on one side and find possible solutions to solve the crisis on the other side”.
The Singaporean Foreign Minister said that it is not time to cooperate with the junta council due to the lack of improvement in Myanmar.
The United States imposed sanctions on the junta regime and military-related companies, urging the international community to stop the sale of weapons to the junta council.
The Singaporean Foreign Minister said that as a country, Singapore will try its best to prevent military weapons from reaching Myanmar.
