MYANMAR – Despite the High Court ban on advanced weaponry sales, Israel government-owned two defense industries sold arms to the atrocious junta council, according to the news report of Haaretz on September 5.
After the military coup in Myanmar in 2021, the Israeli High Court issued an order not to sell weapons, but until 2022, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Elbit Systems sold defense systems to the junta council. AIA sold air defense systems and Elbit Systems sold military gear to Myanmar’s air force, including parts for unmanned aerial vehicles and a remotely operated naval turret complete with a 25mm gun during the same period. The Haaretz newspaper specifically alleged that it was shipped from Ashdod port in Israel to Yangon port.
