MYANMAR – According to the community of gas stations, the junta council had taken strict actions on fuel usage, gas stations, companies and businesses after reducing the import of fuel.
It is reported that after junta set import rate of fuel via quota, Mega company bought fuel six extra times for Tha Htay Hydroelectric project, bought two extra times for Late Tho- Lyae Pyin Road construction, two extra times for the construction of No.22 police division’s entrance road, and Shwe Myan Aung company also bought two extra times for Tha Htay Hydroelectric project.
In addition, 260 fishing vessels were found to have bought fuel without fishing in the sea. 18 local and coastal ships deceitfully requested fuel without using it. Factories, private generators, pylons, hotels, plazas, hospitals, and markets also deceitfully requested fuel.
Junta claimed that those fuel were funnelled towards the gold and gem mining industries in Sagaing Division and Kachin State, and said that it will take action on 16 gas stations and 6 businesses who didn’t pay the taxes.
Moreover, junta also ordered to install POS software to track the input and output of fuel, at all gas stations in 2023 and the installation costs of said POS software will be in tens of millions in MMK.
An owner of a gas station said, ‘’Junta said they won’t give license if we didn’t install the POS software, which costs hundreds of lakhs to install. The software is another source of income for the junta regime. Installing it will cost us a lot of money. It will be more difficult for the areas which do not have internet access. SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) are already facing difficult situations. Life is getting more difficult day by day because of the foolish junta dog group.”
