MYANMAR – The terrorist junta council has recalled veterans and sent them straight to the frontline, reported the family members of the veterans.
The veterans from Ayeyarwaddy Division were recalled on March 31 and immediately sent to the frontlines in Taungoo Township even though they were originally told that they were being called for medical examination, said a family member of a veteran called to the frontline.
“They came and picked him up on March 30. The army recruitment forces immediately sent them to the frontline. They summoned him to Pathein for medical exam but gave him a hair cut and sent him straight to the barracks. He was only there for one day and was immediately headed to Taungoo or Sagaing the next morning, allegedly for medical examination. There is no reason for medical examination in Taungoo or Sagaing. They are being sent straight to areas with strong PDF influence. People thought they will only be set to the frontline after training for around one month but they are being sent immediately now,” said a family member of a veteran.
The wife of a veteran also shared that they cannot allow their family to die for Min Aung Hlaing and so told her husband to run away even though he couldn’t avoid and was dragged into the army now.
“I’m the wife of a former veteran. My husband has retired from the army for nearly five years. Now, Min Aung Hlaing summoned the veterans who retired in 2019 to form reserve force. The civilians are in trouble but the veterans are also in trouble. I have told my husband to make his escape as soon as he gets the chance,” said the wife of a veteran.
