MYANMAR – The junta council is known to be preparing to conduct a nation-wide census in 2024.
On August 22, junta deputy prime minister Soe Win was known to have attended the coordination meeting by the junta council to conduct nation-wide census, as mentioned in the junta controlled state newspaper.
The junta council announced that a nation-wide census will be taken from October 1 to October 15 in 2024.
In 2014, the international community was known to have supported money and technology to conduct a nationwide census, but this time no support was provided, as said by the junta deputy prime minister Soe Win.
He also admitted that there could be challenges and security issues to collect the census data.
The junta council took the household and population lists last January for the election which faced the opposition of the civilians.
