RAKHINE STATE – As the junta council laid mines and transporting reinforcements and ammunition on the roads connecting Ann township and Magway division in Rakhine State, the Arakan Army AA has issued an emergency announcement that the Ann-Padan highway is closed indefinitely.
On the roads connecting Ann and Magway, the junta council used civilian cars to move troops, carrying food and ammunition. On April 2nd, Rakhine Army AA’s Nova (1) Military Region issued a warning that abandoned landmines are lying along the road banks and there is a possibility of a battle along the road.
Fearing that the people will be affected if fighting breaks out, AA said that the Ann-Padang road has to be closed indefinitely.
Since November 13, 2023, the fighting in Rakhine State has continued to be intense until today, and since March 26, 2024, AA said that the military council and AA have been fighting between Ann and Magway.
AA’s Nova (1) Military Region said that the Junta Council is losing the war to the revolutionary armed groups across the country, and is also continuously failing in diplomacy. Hence they are committing violence against the people and targeting the people.
On the other hand, it is reported that by using the conscription law, they are trying to use the people as a human shield and instilling fear into the people.
The Arakan Army AA said that the cities with remaining Junta Council troops in Rakhine State including Ann, Butheetaung, Maungdaw, Sittwe, Taungup, Thandwe, Gwa and Man Aung cities have been surrounded.
