SAGAING DIVISION – The local residents mentioned that they are facing difficulties in harvesting the crops that they have planted as the junta council troops have stationed in Aungkone village and Nantthar village, Indaw township, Sagaing division for almost 2 months.
Around 6500 local residents from 5 villages have been forced to flee as the junta council troops have stationed in Aungkone village since March 20, they pillaged rice from the villagers and still stationed there until May 8.
The accountable person of Indaw Revolution – IR mentioned that even though the harvesting time has arrived, but the farmers from 5 villages who have been forced to flee, dare not harvest the crops they planted and face difficulties as a battalion under division 77 has stationed in Aungkone village with over 100 strength.
“In our region, we plant rice and bean. The bean we have planted is peanut that can make oil. Most of the farmers cannot harvest their peanuts yet. We cannot estimate that how many acres of land are there as most of the people in our village are farmers. The junta council troops said that if the villagers want to come back into the village, the villagers have to provide the number of National Registration Card and name. But no one dares to go back into the village,” the accountable person explained.
The villagers who have been forced to flee and faced difficulties in harvesting are from Aungkone, Nantthar, Innpin, Ywarthar, Thone taw village. At the moment, around 6500 villagers are living in the other villages for their safety.
On October 19, 2022, a junta council column which have over 60 troops raided and torched Aungkone village and 20 out of 400 households were burnt down to ashes.
