BAGO DIVISION – The People’s Defence Force – Thandaung issued an official report that the Kyauk Tai River bridge on the Taungoo – Leiktho – Loikaw Road, which is used by the military council troops for supply and reinforcements, had been blown up with mines, and the local people confirmed that the river crossing bridge was destroyed.
On December 24, at 1:49 a.m., Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 2, Battalion 5 Joint Force (Thandaung) blew up the bridge on the Taungoo – Leiktho – Loikaw Road, which is the main support route for the junta council camps in northern Thandaung between Karen State and Bago Division, cutting off the supply route of the military council.
The People’s Defence Force – Thandaung has advised the people to not get involved in any processes related to the repair of the above bridge. It is also announced that they will not guarantee the safety of anyone who are involved.
“The road is closed, because Kyauk Tai concrete bridge was blown up. The bridge is located near Kyauk Tai Village, adjacent to Pathi Dam, on the road from Taungoo leading to Loikaw, about seven miles east of Taungoo. The sound of the mine explosion could be heard even as far as Taungoo,” a local resident said.
