SHAN (SOUTH) STATE – Locals stated that Hsaik Hkawng market under control of the junta council and their subordinate Pyi Thu Sit, Pa-O National Organization (PNO) in Pa-O region, Shan (South) State has forbidden to open nonlocal outside sellers starting from March 07.
The market administrators have only allowed local (Hsaik Hkawng) sellers and ordered to shut down all the outside sellers including street vendors starting from March 07 noon.
“We have sold here before battles engaged. We felt a little bit fine for living even during being displaced since we still could work. But now they have banned us to sell if we are not from Hsaik Hkawng. They are trying to pour water on a drowned person,” one of the displaced sellers elaborated how the junta forces banned nonlocal sellers though there were sellers from other towns such as Hsihseng and Nawng Mun opening at Hsaik Hkawng market on market day of once in five days before.
In addition, the civilians from Hsihseng Town have been displaced due to engaging battles in Hsihseng Town and Hsihseng City market was burnt down into ashes by the junta’s heavy artillery. Then, the junta forces have attempted to worsen the troubles with prohibition based on regions between the same Pa-O Nations meanwhile the Hsihseng local sellers have tried to survive with what they could effort.
Furthermore, the junta council’s artillery battalion is said to be stationed in Hsaik Hkawng football field and consequences of the hundreds of PNO stationing at the monastery released heavy artillery on March 07 starting from noon, the western part of Mway Taw, Mya Kan Thar, Ho Hke and Aung Tha Pyay wards have been burnt.
