MAGWAY DIVISION – The People’s Defence Force (PDF) in Gangaw Township has issued a warning letter to the public to listen to the news of the military council’s movements and avoid it because the military council has launched an offensive early Friday morning (September 15).
In the northern part of Gangaw Township, around 100 junta terrorists started firing large and small weapons at around 4 a.m. on Friday and entered the village of Thintaw, which is about one mile from the Gangaw-Kalay road.
“The people of the village close to the movement of the junta army need to flee, and as Thintaw Village is close to the Kalay-Gangaw road, if the army shoots with heavy weapons, the shells may fall on the road so, the vehicles travelling on the road also need to be aware of the information about the column,” said a member of Gangaw Township PDF.
He said that the junta columns would no longer use the public roads as before, and would only move using the foothills and pathway away from villages.
In addition, a junta column from the Gangaw-based 50th Infantry Battalion with the strength of 120 may head towards Kanywa Village from the village of Khun Mhway Chauk where it camped overnight, according to the statement.
The 50th Infantry Battalion of the terrorist army stationed at North Khin Yan Village in Gangaw Township often opened fire heavy weapons to the nearby villages. As a result on August 11, in Myinthar village, a 58-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were killed and a 12-year-old child and two adults were injured. Similarly on August 8, a 34-year-old woman from Yaytha Village was also killed.
