KARENNI STATE – The Karenni Defense Force (KNDF) Batallion 06 announced on Friday (June 24) that they paid respect and honored the five fallen soldiers from Battalion 06, who were killed during a junta airstrike in Karenni State, by flying flags at half-mast.
On May 24, at around 9:00 p.m., the junta jet fighters launched aerial bombing at the west side of Demoso Town with at least 6 bombs. Four male KNDF members, Comrade Mataeo, Comrade Francisco Maung Lai, Comrade John Phillips, Comrade Bosco, and a female member Maria May One were reportedly killed in the air strike.
The fallen soldiers were recorded and honored as martyrs and the remaining members of KNDF Battalion 06 promised to continue the fight against the military dictatorship.
During the clashes in Karenni State, the junta council is mainly using air force and heavy weapons, but the People’s Defence Forces have the upper hand in the ground battles, said a KNDF member.
