YANGON DIVISION – There are rumours spreading that hip-hop singer Byuhar, who was unjustly arrested by the junta council, was killed during interrogation.
Byuhar made a live broadcast on May 23 night, comparing the performance of the junta council’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy to that of the elected government’s term and criticized its poor performance.
Consequently, he was taken away by the junta council on May 24 morning and rumours of him being killed spread on May 26 morning.
When asked, Byuhar’s father, Naing Myanmar replied that he did not know where his son is being held. A Facebook user named Thae Ei Mon posted that Byuhar had died at around 4 a.m., and requested to share the post.
The account had also made posts about commercial sex services, and responded to commenters that the post owner is a neighbor of Byuhar.
Ground News Coverage, a Facebook page, which provides news of the revolution in Yangon, stated, “Singer Byuhar was tortured during the interrogation, but according to the news so far, no one has confirmed his death. According to some of our insider reports, he is not dead, only that his condition is slightly concerning. Let’s not post news just for the sake of getting attention.”
