MYANMAR – The People’s Defence Force (PDF) issued a notice, warning civilians to not travel on the new and old Yangon-Mandalay Highways, Bago-Sittaung Highway, Yangon-Mottama and Yangon-Hpaan Road Segments between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
They stated that the notice is issued as the Military Sub-region 2 of the Southern Military Region, PDF Army will be bringing the counter-offensive against the terrorist junta regime and accelerate the military missions and they want to avoid causing grievance to the public.
People are requested to avoid travelling on the old Yangon-Mandalay Road, the Yangon-Mandalay Highway and Bago-Sittaung Road in Bago Division and Yangon-Mottama and Yangon-Hpaan Road Segments in Mon State between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., to drive with the windows down and to accept inspections when travelling on said roads outside the restricted time. Military Sub-region 2 also warned that they will not be responsible for the consequences for failure to comply with the requests.
“We issued this announcement because as the army of the people, we have (the duty) to prevent damage to the people when conducting military operations. We would also like to appeal to the public to stay far from junta bases, troops and convoys and also to not help transport junta troops and materials and weapons for the junta council in their cars,” said Mr. Tin Oo, an official from the Southern Military Region Sub-region 2 Command Office.
