SAGAING DIVISION-In Shwebo District, the northern side of Ye U Township, thousands of residents are fleeing on May 26, at around 10:00 a.m. as military junta troops launched offensive in the area.
Because the junta column came with about 120 soldiers, nearly 5,000 residents fled from Mone Tine Pin, Tat Thit, Ywar Bote Gyi, Zee Kan and Pan Kone Villages and are currently facing difficulties in getting food and drink, according to an official of the People’s Support Organization of Ye U Township.
“Junta soldiers camped overnight in Chaung-U and Sakhan Thar Village, northern part of Ye-U. Villagers nearby are also fleeing. There are about 5,000 people fleeing the war. Packed rice is being delivered as much as donors can. They are unable to carry food, and the people fleeing the war are in shortage of food,” he said.
He continued that at around 1:30 p.m. on May 26, the military junta council forces entered and deployed in Aung Thar (Pyu) village.
Locals from Bo Yone, Ohn Nae Paung, Phane Kar, Chaung U, Sakhan Thar, Kan Pauk, Sat Thay, and Inn Taw Villages were forced to flee on May 25, around 10 a.m. due to junta column entering.
On that day, PDF troops attacked the military junta council army with improvised explosive devices. After that they entered Phane Kar Village and shot and killed an old woman over 80 years old who was trapped in the village and 7 houses were also burnt down.
