BAGO DIVISION – It was reported that there was a clash between the junta soldiers and joint forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defense Force (PDF) between La Pat village and Myat Ye (Myanmar) village, Kyaukgyi Township, resulting deaths of four junta soldiers according to the residents.
On the morning of June 20, a battle between a 30-strong junta column that came out from their outpost in La Pat village to patrol and patrolling KNLA and PDF joint forces took place, and it lasted about an hour from 8 to 9 a.m., according to residents.
“PDFs are on morning patrol, and junta soldiers also patrol in civilian clothes. PDFs thought they were villagers, and when they accidentally passed, the junta side started shooting. At that time, PDFs also shot back,” said a local resident in Myat Ye.
According to the information confirmed by the PDF during the battle, four junta soldiers were killed and the bodies were taken back to the village. As five heavy weapons were also fired from the junta camp in La Pat village for reinforcement, some houses in Myat Ye village were destroyed and one PDF member had minor injury.
It is also reported that junta soldiers from light infantry battalion 351 based in Kyaukgyi and Pyu Saw Htee members have been stationed in La Pat village since 2021.
Previously on June 6, there was a battle to take over the Nat Than Kwin police station, and more than 30 junta soldiers were killed, and four PDF members had also fallen.
