MYANMAR – As part of the so-called financial war, eight types of goods and services belonging to the junta council have been announced as the second stage of boycott and the public has been requested not to buy or use said services.
The eight types of goods and services to be boycotted are Aungbalay Lottery, a variety of Nan Myaing brand coffees, Shwefi Oo brand instant tea and Lemon Tea, Shwe Manthu Express Bus, Pathein Thu Express Bus, Than Myan Thu Express Bus and Shan Ma Lay Express Bus.
Last August, the public was urged to participate in the first stage of the boycott, by refusing to buy eight brands of products including various types of beer, alcohol and cigarettes produced by the junta council.
After the release of the exhortation, there was pressure from the junta council’s Interior Department to sell military products in shopping malls, stores, and merchandise stores across the country, including famous malls, and it is reported that shops were raided.
The Boycott List, a total of 151 military-owned businesses, published by the human rights movement group Burma Campaign UK, includes six banks and financial institutions, two brands of cigarettes, two telecommunication companies, seven construction product brands, 13 entertainment and travel services, 38 food stuff brands, four health and beauty products, nine health service locations, four factories, 13 international trade enterprises, five product manufacturing industries, 19 media companies, eight malls, seven trading companies and 14 transportation businesses.
