SAGAING DIVISION – On Saturday morning (July 15), junta forces detained two members of revolutionary forces who came by a motorcycle near Monyway Village at the border of Monywa and Chaung U Townships and shot them dead, reported local revolutionary forces.
“After being detained, the two were brought to the fields and shot in the head,” said Bo. Tiger, the leader of Monywa UG Alliance.
Monywa Township Information Team also reported that over 20 junta soldiers, heading towards Monywa from Khin Mon Agricultural Farm in Chaung U Township, detained and killed the two revolutionary forces members.
The deceased are reported to be Mr. Nay Oo and Mr. Kalar, members of local revolutionary forces. They were tortured by junta forces after their arrest before getting killed, according to members of local revolutionary forces who observed the bodies.
“We have collected their bodies. They will be buried after their family members arrive,” said a member of local revolutionary forces.
Mr. Nay Oo and Mr. Kalar had worked for Chindwin Myitthar Volunteer Social Assistance Group before the military coup and joined in the anti-junta efforts after the coup to help fight against the coup council, reported local news sources.
Mr. Nay Oo has been abducted and lawlessly imprisoned for two years under section 505 (a) by the junta regime after the coup and was just released from Myingyan Prison in December last year.
His son, Mr. Htinshar Pyae Sone Oo, a former member of ABFSU (All Burma Federation of Student Unions), was also a member of revolutionary forces and had fallen in the battle between Monywa Township Local Defence Force and junta troops on July 26, 2021, said Monywa residents.
Local defence forces and junta troops frequently clash in Monywa Township and locals reported that junta forces often commit arson and looting of civilian homes as well as arbitrary arrest and murder of civilians.
In addition, two men found sharing a motorcycle in the township are also subjected to getting shot or extortion and arbitrary arrest.
