BAGO DIVISION – In Kyaukkyi, Mone region, Nyaunglaypin District, under the KNU (Karen National Union) Brigade 3 area, the number of IDPs rose after a news leak from a junta source that the junta council is planning military offensives.
Currently, there is no clash in the area but there is news that junta’s Belu Column, that had committed countless atrocities including arson, robbery, torture and murder, would advance to the area and thus locals have been fleeing in advance.
“Locals of two more villages from the area of Yan Myo Aung Village, fleeing the junta have reached our camp. The NUG government has provided food and shelter but this is not sufficient due to the increasing numbers of IDPs. More rations, medicine, and rainproof taverns are needed for the rainy season. Local and international assistance, please directly support the local volunteer groups,” said the spokesperson of KNLA ( Karen National Liberation Army).
Due to the junta’s arbitrary shelling, raiding and detaining locals from Yan Myo Aung Village Tract, locals have been fleeing the village, and the number of IDPs in Kyaukkyi, Mone region has risen to 18,923, according to local volunteer groups.
