MYANMAR – The Association for the Assistance of Political Prisoners (AAPP) has announced that nearly 3820 innocent people were killed due to the junta council’s violent shootings and nearly 23980 innocent people were detained by the junta council during the almost two and a half years of the coup d’état.
This list was collected by the AAPP during February 1, 2021 and July 21, 2023. But the actual number of casualties could be more than this.
During the spring revolution, 19593 people were detained by the coup council. Among them, 6924 people were sentenced to prison.
There are 115 civilians who were sentenced to death regarding the revolution and were detained in the prison. 122 civilians, including 43 civilians who were sentenced to death in absentia, were sentenced in absentia. So, a total of 158 civilians were sentenced to death.
There are 4387 people who had been abducted and were released, until now.
According to the AAPP record and research studies, 64 civilians were killed in Karen state, since 2021 until now. Moreover, 426 civilians were abducted and among them, 394 civilians are still under detainment. 138 out of 394 civilians were lawlessly sentenced to prison.
On July 8 evening, Mr. Min Zaw Oo who lived in Pyarsakhan village, Thandaunggyi township, Karen state, faced-off with the atrocious junta troops while he was coming back from selling at the market. And he was shot dead by the junta troops with no apparent reason, said AAPP.
People can inform AAPP if the leaders of the local organisations, civilians, activists, reporters, the employees who join CDM were abducted, detained and prosecuted and the information about the people who sacrificed their lives for the country, said AAPP.
