RAKHINE STATE – According to the locals, the combination of fascist junta council troops and their subordinates have burgled into the civilian houses which were left by the owners who fled the city in Sittwe City, Rakhine State.
The civilians from Sittwe City have been forced to flee to safety and the countryside as they are afraid of battles breaking out in the city, and as the junta council is firing heavy weapons towards the town.
A local witness mentioned that while the civilians were fleeing, groups of junta council servants were burgling and looting the civilian properties.
He mentioned that “the junta council soldiers and police started patrolling after 9 p.m. They broke into the houses where the owners had fled and ransacked the civilian properties. Some of the junta council troops committed looting even in the daytime. There are a lot of houses that are not currently occupied in Sittwe City. They stole the TVs, clothes, motorcycles and bicycles.”
A news source mentioned that some of the houses from Lan Ma Taw (North/ South) Wards, Kyaypingyi Ward, Kone Thwe Tan Ward and along Minbargyi Road were being burgled.
During these days, the junta council troops are forcibly conscripting the youths who are between the ages of 18 and 35. Therefore, the families which have youths in their family members have been forced to flee.
In 2019 while confronting the Arakan Army (AA) in battles, the inhumane junta council troops similarly looted civilian properties from the villages where the civilians have already fled.
The atrocious junta council troops also destroyed the civilian houses, grain, rice, utensils and clothes in Marlar (Rakhine) Village and Tinma Village in Kyauktaw Township in 2021.
