KAREN STATE – The KNU (Karen National Union) has issued a letter to the international legal mechanism, including the United Nations and member states, regional organizations like ASEAN and member countries, international human rights organizations to take action against the junta council, which is openly committing war crimes.
The junta council is committing aerial bombardments on civilian targets without any reason. On the single day of September 7, there were three attacks by junta jet fighters in KNU administered areas.
On September 7, the military council’s jet fighter dropped two bombs on the religious buildings, schools and residential buildings in the villages in Lutho Township and Dwe Lo Township of Mutraw District, targeting civilians.
Due to this air attack, a school teacher and four students were killed and six others were injured when it hit a boarding house in the village of Htee Kor Htaw in Dwe Lo Township, KNU announced.
In the same manner, a man from the village of That Thu Khee was injured and four houses were damaged.
In addition, it was reported that six houses, a church, a school and a prayer hall were damaged in Koro Bor Hta Village.
Regarding the military council’s attacks, KNU stated in the statement that it will take action to protect the lives and property of the people in various ways.
