KARENNI STATE – Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) issued a statement on August 18, advising against the use of Demoso-Hpruso Road and to live cautiously with the military situation in mind in the region.
The military situation remains tense along said road and battles can break out at any time, hence the restriction.
Karenni joint forces are said to have engaged in fierce clashes against the junta battalions under Division 55, that launched offensives onto the Demoso-Hpruso Union Highway, at Hywayli Vilar Village, Ngwetaung Ywarthit Village, Kadalar Village and Htithawkuu Village from August 2 to 14.
KNDF added that the junta council had bombed the church at Htithawkuu Village in Hpruso on August 12 around 8 p.m.
It is said that the junta air force bombed the unrelated “Mother of Mercy” church in Htithawkuu Village after a battle broke out near the village.
The aerial bombing damaged the church and buildings inside the church compound as well as the walls. KNDF said they could only release the report on the damages now because of the ongoing military situation.
