TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Myeik District People’s Defence Force No.1 battalion had reportedly released a statement on Saturday (June 10), asking the people not to use the Myeik-Palaw Road from 7:00 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The PDF battalion had asked the people to follow their statement as the situation between the junta soldiers and the PDFs had been intense along the highway road in Palaw Township and in the vicinity, according to Mr. Arnold, the person in charge of information and reports.
“The junta soldiers had been reinforcing to Kyae and Pala regions and a battle might occur at any time soon,” he said.
He added that the junta soldiers usually abduct the people from touring buses and cars on the road and use them as human shields when a battle occurs.
The statement was said to have been released for the safety of the public and they asked the people to obey the rules until they release another statement.
People’s Defence Force from Thayetchaung Township, which is near Palaw Township, has also released a statement telling the people to not use Myeik-Dawei Road from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
