MYANMAR – Interim President Duwa Lashi La of the National Unity Government sent a message expressing his pride for the support given to the liberation ethnic resistance groups breaking free from the military dictatorship, to the anniversary of the peace building in “Wa” State.
The United Wa State Party (UWSP/UWSA), which was founded on April 17, 1989, celebrated its 35th anniversary on Wednesday (April 17).
In the message, the Interim President Duwa Lashi La also stated that “I am also proud of the lead and support of UWSP for the national ethnic revolutionary organizations to liberate from the military dictatorship; national equality; the emergence of the federal union with self determination form the time of its establishment up to today.”
He also stated in the message that the National Unity Government wishes for the UWSP to maintain and develop further the stability and peace currently achieved in the Wa State by the UWSP, and further development in socio-economic development and the rule of law.
The letter also expressed NUG’s respect, pride, and gratitude for the protection and care given to the people who entered the Wa Self-administered Region by the UWSP and the Wa State Government during the 1027 Operation.
The message also mentioned that “we believe that only when the terrorist military dictator can be completely defeated, will e be able to build a federal union in future with full national equality that the ethnic people in the Union of Myanmar, including the Wa ethnic groups, want.”
The Acting President also stated in the message that the National Unity Government wishes to work with the United Wa State Party to eradicate authoritarianism and build a true federal union.
The members of the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) led by UWSA, Ta’ang, Kokang and the Rakhine forces carried out Operation 1027, on October 27, 2023, a simultaneous offensive against the junta council forces in the northern Shan State, and these forces have captured the cities, army camps, many battalion headquarters and currently control many townships in northern Shan.
In addition, the Arakan Army also attacked and captured the junta council camps in Rakhine State and Chin State, having gained control over a total of nine townships, eight in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township of Chin State, and announced that they will fight the junta council troops in the rest of the townships.
