SAGAING DIVISION- The hometown of Junta’s Prime Minister Myat Kyaw of Sagaing Region was seized by Kantbalu Township People’s Defense Organization. Fifteen members of the military group and Pyu members were killed and eight guns were seized during a raid on Karbo village, on Friday (January 26).
“Karbo Village, Kantbalu Township, the hometown of the Junta’s Prime Minister of Sagaing Division, was seized by the Kantbalu Township Battalion (25) at around 1:50 a.m. The joint forces of resistance groups attacked the junta and Pyu Saw Htee camps that in Karbo village. About 15 junta affiliates were killed and two carbines, an (MA-1), a (G-3) rifles, three indian rifles, a pistol, a hand-made short gun, five magazines and artillery were confiscated,” stated Kantbalu PDF.
Kantbalu Township PDF stated that they only attacked military targets without burning or destroying civilians’ homes, or raiding or killing, or thieving in the town.
Some of the local revolutionary soldiers said that the battle of capturing the Karbo village camp lasted only half an hour, and it is reported that some prisoners of war were captured but the media could not confirm individually.
A local media reported that the resistance forces raided the military camp and Pyu camps in the southern part of Kantbalu District yesterday night. The fight was said to be intense and casualties were reported on both sides.
Myat Kyaw, the junta’s Prime Minister of Sagaing Division, was born in Karbo village, Kantbalu township. He was a former Military Officer and had been working as the headmaster of the Defense Academy before the coup.
