YANGON DIVISION – The local residents said that the military council destroyed the shops in the North Dagon Township 40 market of Yangon, where an anti-military demonstration was held.
A resident of North Dagon Township said that the area around the market was destroyed on November 25 night and November 26 morning by military council soldiers and many forces in civilian clothes.
“Soldiers came and destroyed the shops in 40 market in the night because of a protest yesterday (November 25). This morning (November 26), the street vendors didn’t know about it, so they came and tried to open their shops. At that time, terrorist soldiers came and destroyed the market again. The vendors weren’t allowed to open the shops and were forced to close. Many soldiers in uniform and in civies were waiting nearby,” he said.
Yangon Strike Force’s Mr. Ye Nyi Htet said on his social media that he is sorry for such destruction and apologized to the people.
“Just like Mr. Nang Lin’s speech at the strike, I feel heart palpitations and I apologize for the loss of goods and suffering. This action is the dictator’s way of antagonizing our revolutionary forces and the people. The terrorist army is trying to create anxiety among the people as soon as the public sees us. When we protested at the Hleden market, they burned down almost the whole market. Now this method was repeated and forced. They try to strengthen their grip on power by threatening the people,” he said.
He continued, “The army has definitely failed. The end of these guys is failure. These guys must never be able to rule Yangon. They must not be allowed to rule not only Yangon but also the entire country, anywhere, in any region. They must not be allowed to rule at all.”
A public strike was held on November 25 in North Dagon Market by Mr. Nang Lin and the strike forces, along with the anti-dictatorship Yangon forces, amid tight security by the junta council.
