KAYAH STATE – Owing to consecutive and intense battles and intentional roadblocks by the junta soldiers, IDP (internally displaced persons) from Western Demoso had been facing shortages of basic consumables such as rice, cooking oils since last week.
In order to ease the current challenges, Karenni IDP supporter network visited the affected area and donated basic food supplies on July 7.
The cost a bag of rice was allegedly inflated to more than 80,000 Myanmar Kyats (approximately US$39) there. Due to consecutive fights within Kayah State, the supply of rice had been under-demand and challenging to buy large quantities as stated by the supporter network.
The assistance for IDP were still needed and the donated rice bags were equally distributed.
As the price of rice is said to be tremendously increasing and aids on IDP team seemed to be declining, Karenni IDP supporter network urged people to contribute as much as possible.
