KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the junta council are fighting in 2 locations in the Hselzin area, Phakant township, said a resident of Hselzin.
Local and military sources said that when the KIA attacked the Hselzin police station on April 9th, more than 20 policemen under the Junta Council surrendered.
“There’s a fight going on at Hselzin right now. Yesterday, the Hselzin police station surrendered and came to the legal fold. There are still Junta Council members. There are also SNAs. It’s a battle now. There are 4 places in total. Now fighting is going on in 2 places. It’s happening on the side of the Thanyawzin Kon and in Selzin. Yesterday, the police station raised their white flag and 22 people came to the legal fold.” said a resident of Hselzin.
A military source said that the Selzin police station was captured at 11:00 a.m. yesterday, 23 policemen surrendered and 22 weapons were obtained.
A local resident of Hselzin said that they had been fleeing before the fighting.
In addition, the KIA is also attacking the military council base in Nanya area of Phakant township, where the military council is resisting air support.
